The Jackson Veterinary
Clinic provides clients with a very high standard of equipment
and facilities. Substantial capital investements have been
made since November 1992, with some relatively large spending
recently. The first capital investement was computerisation
of the practice. Recently, we have invested heavily in new
equipment to provide an even better service. A new xray
machine, operating table and haematology analyser have been
purchased during the first quarter of 2005. The extension
to the building has provided new kennels, prep room, theatre
and isolation ward. A second consulting room and dedicated
diagnostic imaging room have been created as a result of
more space becoming available in the older part of the building. |

We can provide blood test results
within minutes, instead of a few days. You don't have to
travel long distances to see a referral vet, for example,
to have an ultrasound scan performed on your pet (often
taking the whole day). The facilities make our job more
satisfying because we feel that our patients are better
cared for. |

Of course, "hardware"
is not the only investment we make. We spend more than £1250
every year on continuing professional development (CPD).
Although this is not yet a legal requirement for vets (or
doctors!), we think it is very important to keep up to date
with new techniques and to refresh existing ones. Recent
course attended by Mr Jackson
include: radiology and ultrasonography
of the abdomen; cardiology; recent treatment developments
in gastric dilation/volvulus; update on diseases of the nervous system;
cruciate repair options; dermatology developments; BSAVA
Congress and practice management courses. Our lay staff
and nurses are also encouraged to attend meetings and courses.
